I run @jareddesu on YouTube, where I document my journey learning Japanese through AJATT-style immersion. About 13,500 of you have decided to come along for the ride. I'm grateful you're here.

When I'm not making videos, I'm usually in front of Anki, working on hako — a small wooden box that shows your study progress on an LED matrix — or breaking some piece of software in a way that sends me down a rabbit hole.

Outside of that, I spend most of my hours on language learning, content creation, and whatever side project has captured my attention this month.

What I'm up to right now.

Shipping hako's first batch. ~25 handmade units of an ambient Anki device. Drops spring 2027.
Reading 吾輩は猫である in Japanese. Slowly. Looking up 4-5 words per page but it's fine. 🙃
Pushing my reading speed. Tracking characters per hour. The graph is going up.... mostly.
Sharing my AJATT journey. Everything else happens between Japanese.
